How to Enable or Disable ModSecurity in cPanel

Introduction

ModSecurity is a web application firewall (WAF) that protects your website from common security threats such as SQL injection, cross-site scripting (XSS), and other malicious attacks. If you are using cPanel, you can easily enable or disable ModSecurity based on your website’s needs. In this guide, we will walk you through the steps to manage ModSecurity in cPanel.

Log in to cPanel

Once logged in, scroll down to the Security section.

Click on the ModSecurity icon.

  • You will see a list of domains associated with your cPanel account.
  • To enable ModSecurity for a domain, click the On button next to it.
  • To disable ModSecurity for a domain, click the Off button next to it.

Verify Your Changes

After enabling or disabling ModSecurity, test your website to ensure everything is functioning correctly. If you encounter issues after enabling ModSecurity, certain rules may be blocking legitimate traffic. In such cases, you may need to review the logs or adjust ModSecurity rules.
